Sussex Police Authority -
Who We Are
Members of the Police Authority scrutinise and support the work of Sussex Police.
Sussex Police Authority consists of 17 members. Nine are councillors, elected to East and West Sussex County Councils and Brighton and Hove City Council, and appointed to the Police Authority to reflect the political balance of those authorities.
Three of our members are serving magistrates appointed by the councillor and independent members of the Police Authority following a selection process which involves a person appointed by the Home Secretary. The remaining five are independent members appointed by the councillor and magistrate members of the Police Authority following public advertisment, consideration by the Home Office and interview.
