David Rogers OBE
Councillor Member
David has been involved in Sussex local politics for over 30 years. He was the leader of East Sussex County Council 1999-2001, and is currently Leader of the Opposition, representing Newhaven & Ouse Valley West. He also works at national level with the Local Government Association, where he chairs Community Well-being, one of seven main Boards. Prior to entering public life, David worked in the entertainment industry - firstly for Rank Leisure Services and then EMI Records. David's interests include walking, music, and much else besides when time spent with his partner and children allow.
David was appointed to the Police Authority in 1981 and served as the Chairman of the Authority 2001-2003. He is the Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee (which includes complaints), a member of the Corporate Governance Committee and the Chief Officers' Appointments and Remuneration Committee. He has Lead Member responsibilities for Professional Standards and represents the Authority on the Eastbourne Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
